Jesse Roman, MD, ATSF

Dr. Roman is most deserving of this award given by the ATS Public Advisory Roundtable. John Walsh was an amazing advocate, businessman and friend to everyone. He was an incredible leader and guided many of us when trying to grow our organizations. This award exemplifies his values and talents in promoting patient-centered research, advocacy, advancing science to specifically support increasing quality of life, and serving as a mentor to anyone seeking his guidance.

Dr. Jesse Roman, MD is the CEO of the Jane and Leonard Korman Respiratory Institute, a collaboration of Jefferson Health, PA, and National Jewish Health in Denver. Prior to that position he came from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he was Distinguished University Scholar and Chairman of the Department of Medicine. Earlier, Dr. Roman was Director of the Emory Center for Respiratory Health within the Woodruff Health Science Center at Emory. He has exceptional leadership skills and extensive experience treating and researching respiratory diseases. He has published more than 125 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals and many manuscripts, primarily on interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, and sarcoidosis. When I look at his background, I am so impressed with the accolades he gets from his patients. He is in newspapers winning awards for being a caring practitioner.
